Legacy Gifts: Trees & Benches

Honor a loved one, celebrate a special occasion, or recognize someone’s achievements with a lasting gift to our parks. Each Legacy Gift includes a commemorative tribute and helps enhance and beautify our parks for generations to come.

Legacy Trees

A Legacy Tree is a gift that lives on. Plant a tree in a Doylestown Township park to celebrate a birth, wedding, birthday, anniversary, or graduation, and watch it grow along with the person it honors. Or plant a living memorial to remember a loved one or dear friend.

Civic and youth groups, sports teams, and organizations can also sponsor a Legacy Tree to honor individuals for special achievements or leadership. It’s a wonderful way for your group to show its pride in the community.

  • Tree options: Tulip Poplar, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, White Oak, or Honey Locust (all native species)
  • Size: 1½"–2½" caliper
  • Price: $950

How it works:

  1. Complete the Legacy Tree Flyer and Order Form.
  2. Once we receive your form and donation, our staff will contact you to arrange your tree’s location.
  3. We’ll notify you when your tree has been planted. You’ll also receive a certificate, prepared according to your wishes, to keep or give as a gift.

Planting schedule:

  • Trees ordered April 1 – October 15 are planted in the late fall.
  • Trees ordered October 16 – March 31 are planted in the spring.

Our park maintenance staff will care for your tree after planting to give it the best chance to establish and grow.

One-year replacement warranty: If your tree does not survive its first year, the Township will replace it with a tree of the same size. The Parks Superintendent will select the replacement, which may be a different species or location depending on why the original tree was lost and what’s available.

The Township cannot guarantee a tree will survive indefinitely in any location. If a tree is lost after the warranty period, the sponsor may choose to “adopt” an existing park tree, at the discretion of the Parks Superintendent and without additional warranty coverage.

Legacy Benches

Sponsor a bench with a personalized plaque, placed in one of our parks or along a trail.

Price:

  • Bench with 2"x10" Plaque: $4,300
  • Bench with 6" x 14" Plaque: $4,500

How it works:

  1. Review the Legacy Bench Brochure, choose your plaque size, and complete the order form with your preferred park or trail location and plaque wording.
  2. Submit your completed form and payment by email to info@doylestownpa.org or drop it off at 425 Wells Road, Doylestown. Payment is due when the order is placed.
  3. Our staff will confirm your bench location and plaque wording. Locations are approved in the order requests are received, and some areas may be limited or full. You’re welcome to tour the location with our Parks staff before your bench is installed.
  4. Your bench will be installed, usually in the fall or late winter, depending on when your order is received and how many orders come before it.
  5. We'll contact you to let you know once your bench is installed and completed.
