At the March 17, 2026, meeting the Board of Supervisors approved an Ordinance NO. 432, establishing Chapter 120, Bicycles, E-Bike and E-Scooters, to regulate the use of bicycles , E-Bike and E-Scooters within in Township.
Where They Are Permitted
- Allowed on Township trails, parks, and roadways
- E-bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on trails less than 8 feet wide or where posted
- Sidewalk use is generally not permitted, except for riders under 16 accompanied by an adult
Safety Requirements
- Must have:
- Working brakes
- A bell or audible warning device
- Lights/reflectors when used at night
Rules of Operation
- Pedestrians have the right-of-way at all times
- Riders must pass on the left with warning
- Maximum of two riders side-by-side (single file when approaching others)
- One rider per device (no passengers on e-scooters)
Speed Limit
- Maximum speed is 15 mph on Township property, or lower as conditions require
Parking
- Devices may not block sidewalks, trails, or roadways
- Devices may not damage landscaping or vegetation
Enforcement
- Enforced by Township Police
- Fines:
- $100 for first violation
- $250 for second violation
- Up to $500 for violations
