5/19/2010 ~ Staff Honored!

On May 19, 2010 Holly Dodson was honored at the Bucks Fire Police Association general meeting. Holly received the 2009 J. Edward Samsel Award for Outstanding Achievement from the Bucks County Fire Police Association as well as a Citation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, House of Representatives.

Holly has been a member of the Chalfont Fire Company where she is an active Fire Police Officer and also currently serves as the Secretary for the Bucks County Fire Police Association.

Holly has been a member of the Doylestown Township Police Department since 2001 where she currently serves as the Office Manager and Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police.

5/6/2010 ~ D.A.R.E. Graduation

On May 6, 2010 Kutz Elementary held their 22 Annual DARE Graduation at the elementary school located on Turk Road in the township. Officer William “Bill” Mokriski who has been the DARE instructor since 2006 presented Certificates of Achievement to the graduates. Many proud family and friends were in attendance to honor the young women and men.

5/4/2010 ~ Citizens Receive Commendation

At the May 4, 2010 Board of Supervisors Meeting, Doylestown Tennis Club owners, Edward and Karen Mullaney received Business Commendations for their efforts in the purchase and utilization of an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) at their club located on Weldon Drive in the township. To date the AED’s have successfully saved the lives of two club members.

Also being honored at the meeting was Tennis Club employee, Debbie Pileggi whose quick action and use of the AED in December of 2009 successfully saved the life of member Bill Barber.

Also present at awards ceremony to express their gratitude to the club and employees were survivors Robert Isett and Bill Barber.

05/03/2010 ~ MADD Honor's Officer's

For the second year in a row on May 3, 2010 Shelli and Stan Dunn of the Southeastern PA Chapter of MADD presented Certificates of Achievements to Sgt. Charles Zeigler and Ofc. Matthew Hershowitz in recognition of their outstanding DUI enforcement efforts. Ofc. Hershowitz was credited for leading the department with DUI arrest for the second consecutive year, while Cpl. Zeigler was again recognized for coordinating the police departments DUI enforcement details.

Chiefs travel to Capitol Hill

IACP President, Chief Michael Carroll (West Goshen Township) and Chief Stephen J. White (Doylestown Township) as well as many other police executives from across the country travelled to Washington D.C. on March 9th and met with Congress in and effort to get legislation passed that would create a national criminal justice commission. The commission would develop recommendations for combating challenges such as Homeland Security and Cyber Crimes that confront today’s law enforcement organizations. If created it would be the first of its kind since 1965.

2/2/2010 ~ Officers Promoted!

On February 2, 2010 at the monthly Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors meeting the supervisors approved the promotions of three officers within the police department.

Donald L. Lawson and Charles H. Zeigler were promoted to the rank of Sergeant and James C. Boettger was promoted to the rank of Corporal.

10/7/2009 ~ Chiefs sworn in with IACP

On October 7, 2009 Chief Michael J. Carroll, (West Goshen Twp. Police) was sworn in as President and Chief Stephen J. White (Doylestown Twp. Police) was sworn in as Parliamentarian by the International Association of Chiefs of Police at the 116th Annual Conference held in Denver CO. The IACP is the largest law enforcement organization in the world and has 20,602 members in 104 countries.

9/15/2009 ~ Police Hire 2 new officers!

On September 15, 2009 the Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors voted to hire Timothy Reihl and Anthony Breslau as new patrolman with the police department. The officers were sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Philip Daly during a brief ceremony at the supervisors meeting.

Timothy Reihl is a graduate of the Allentown Police Academy and Anthony Breslau is a graduate of the Temple University Police Academy.

07/3/2009 ~ Sergeant Retires

On July 3, 2009 Sgt. Michael Johnson retired from the Doylestown Township Police Department after a 29 year career. Sgt. Johnson joined the police department in 1980 after a brief career with the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department. Sgt. Johnson was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1988 and attended the FBI National Academy. During his tenure with the department he was instrumental in the creation of the Central Bucks Special Response Team and served time as its Tactical Commander. The department wishes Sgt. Johnson and his family all the best in his retirement and commend him for his 29 years of dedicated service to Doylestown Township and the citizens he served.

04/22/2009 ~ Sergeant accepts position with FBIOn April 22, 2009 Sgt. Bradley Zartman resigned from the police department after a ten years. Sgt. Zartman is leaving the department to pursue a career with the FBI. The department wishes Sgt. Zartman all the best in his new endeavor.

05/07/2009 ~ MADD Honor's Officer's

05/05/2009 ~ Zeigler promoted to Corporal

At the Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors meeting on May 5, 2009, Ptlm Charles H. Zeigler was sworn in as Corporal with the township police department. Cpl Zeigler is a graduate of Bensalem High School and was hired by the Police Department in January of 2003. Cpl. Zeigler currently runs the departments DUI enforcement programs.

12/2/2008 ~ Ptlm. Christopher S. Power sworn in as Corporal

At the Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors meeting on December 2, 2008, Ptlm Christopher S. Power sworn in as Corporal with the township police department. Cpl Power was hired by the Police Department in August of 2000. Cpl. Power is a graduate of Central Bucks West High School and attended Penn State University. Cpl. Power is a graduate of the Temple University’s Act 120 program.

5/20/2008 ~ Ptlm. Donald R. Lawson sworn in as Corporal

At the Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors meeting on May 20, 2008, Ptlm Donald R. Lawson was sworn in as the Police Department’s fourth Corporal. Cpl Lawson was hired by the Police Department in November of 1995. Cpl. Lawson is a former member of Central Bucks Special Response Team (CBSRT) and currently serves as a Team Leader for the Bucks County Major Incident Response Team (MIRT). Cpl. Lawson is also a member of the Central Bucks Motor Carrier Safety Task Force (MCSAP). Prior to joining the police department Cpl. Lawson served in the United States Marine Corps.

05/20/2008 ~ Officer and Citizens Receive Commendation

On May 20, 2008 Officer Christopher S. Power along with citizens Cory Smith and Dominque Oldre received commendations at the Doylestown Township Supervisors Meeting. The three were credited with performing advanced medical care to a 66 year old male who had suffered a cardiac arrest while at the Doylestown Tennis Club on May 14, 2008. Cardiac care specialists at Doylestown Hospital credited their prompt action with saving the victims life.

05/01/2008 ~ Official's Honored

On May 1, 2008 Det. Matthew O’Connor and Chief Deputy DA Jennifer Schorn were among nine honorees at the 2008 BARC Community Awards Ceremony. They were recognized for their professional support and advocacy on behalf of BARC.

03/19/2008 ~ Officer's Honored

On March 19, 2008 Det./Cpl. Frank T. Bochenek and Det. Matthew O’Connor were among twenty seven honorees of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of ASIS International at the 10th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night. Each of the officers received individual honors for their efforts in investigating Identity Theft cases within the township.

4/18/2006 ~ Police Hire new officer

On April 18, 2006 the Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors voted to hire Justin Notarfrancesco as a patrolman with the police department. Officer Notarfrancesco will be sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Philip Daly on May 11, 2006. Notarfrancesco is a native of Fairless Hills and a Graduate of Penn State University. Notarfrancesco will be attending the Temple University Police Academy starting on May 15, 2006.

D.A.R.E.

Doylestown Township Police Officer Detective Matthew O’Connor who has served as the department’s D.A.R.E. officer at Kutz Elementary since 1995 will be stepping down at the end of the 2005-2006 D.A.R.E. program. Detective O’Connor will be replaced by Officer William “Bill” Mokriski. Officer Mokriski has been a member of the Doylestown Township Police since 2002 and has recently graduated from the D.A.R.E Training Program conducted by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

6/7/2005 ~ Sgt. Dean Logan sworn in as Lieutenant

At the Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors meeting on June 7, 2005, Sgt. Dean Logan was sworn in as the Police Department’s new Lieutenant. Lt. Logan was hired by the Police Department in August of 1987 and entered the Detective Division in 1991. Lt. Logan was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 1999, and to the rank of Sergeant in March of 2003.Lt. Logan becomes the third Lieutenant in the Department’s history, filling the vacancy left by the retirement of Lt. Frank “Bucky” Dunlap in July of 2004.
