Motorists on the Route 202 and Route 611 bypasses in Doylestown,
Bucks County, will encounter nighttime lane closures for the
next two weeks beginning Monday (Jan. 30) for overhead sign
structure construction, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation announced today.
Intermittent lane closures will be in place Monday through
Friday nights next week (Jan. 30-Feb. 3) and the following week
(Feb. 6-10) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning on the
northbound and southbound Route 202 Bypass between the Route 611
and Main Street exits, and on northbound and southbound Route
611 Bypass between Edison-Furlong Road and the State Street
exit.
Crews will work at night the next two weeks to erect new
overhead sign structures and remove existing sign structures
along the two highways. This operation is part of the
construction of the new Route 202 Parkway.
All activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT
to Close Lower State Road over Neshaminy Creek in Doylestown
Township for Bridge Replacement King of Prussia – The
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that
northbound and southbound Lower State Road will be closed and
detoured between Bristol Road and Tamened Avenue in Doylestown
Township, Bucks County beginning Monday, Jan. 9 for bridge
replacement.
Northbound Lower State Road was closed April 18, 2011.
The project was originally scheduled to finish in Aug. 2012, but
the completion date was pushed back to June 2013 due to utility
and construction delays due to the Route 202 Parkway project.
With a total closure the new bridge is expected to open in Dec.
2012.
“We decided that it would be better to close Lower State Road to
expedite the completion of the new bridge,” PennDOT District
Executive Lester C. Toaso said. “The project was delayed by
utility relocation issues and Lower State Road being used as a
detour for a section of the Route 202 Parkway project.”
During construction, northbound and southbound Lower State Road
through traffic will be detoured over Bristol Road, Route 202
(Butler Pike) and Tamened Avenue. Local access will be
maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to
allow extra time when traveling through the area.
Crews are replacing the existing five-span, reinforced concrete
T-beam bridge with a new three-span, composite pre-stressed
concrete I-beam structure.
The current bridge, which was built in 1930, is 24 feet wide and
212 feet long. The new structure will be 40 feet wide with two
travel lanes and two shoulders. The bridge carries 13,543
vehicles a day.
J.D. Eckman, Inc. is the general contractor on the $3,475,417
project that is financed with 100 percent state funds.
PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call
511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major highways
before heading out. |
