2017 WATER METER REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
Doylestown Township Municipal Authority (DTMA) is implementing a Water Meter Replacement Program to ensure continued accuracy for customer billing purposes. Additionally, these new meters will be read automatically by radio frequency, providing the DTMA staff a more efficient method to collect water usage data.
NOTICE: All DTMA customers who received a mailing in March 2017 to schedule appointments to replace water meters please see below. This meter replacement project affects approximately one-third of our customers, so not applicable to all residents.
Your cooperation will be needed to implement this program
The DTMA has engaged LENEGAN Plumbing & Heating, LLC to manage the Water Meter Replacement Program and to perform the meter replacement work. The cost of the new meter and the labor to install the meter will be borne by the DTMA.
Access into your residence will be necessary, so appointments for the meter installations will be required. It is important that you call the telephone number listed below to set up your appointment as soon as possible. Or, if more convenient, you may schedule your appointment on LENEGAN’s website also listed below. Appointments will be scheduled Monday through Friday 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 4 PM. It is mandatory and required that all DTMA water customers have their meter replaced. It is expected the replacement work will require approximately 15-20 minutes. The installers from LENEGAN Plumbing and Heating, LLC will have personal identification badges that are approved by the DTMA. Please make sure your water meter is accessible prior to the scheduled installation date.
As a courtesy, the LENEGAN installer will check to ensure your home is equipped with a backflow preventer. The backflow preventer is required to prevent potential contamination from entering the DTMA water system. If a backflow preventer is not present, the Authority will install one at no charge to the customer. With the backflow preventer, it is highly recommended a thermal expansion tank be installed at your water heater to relieve potential buildup of pressure in your water lines. The cost of the expansion tank and installation will be the responsibility of the homeowner. DTMA has negotiated a reduced price to install the expansion tanks at a highly competitive rate of $135.00 while on the property. This is payable directly to LENEGAN, LLC at time of installation.
