Administration

The Township Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Township.  Appointed by the Board of Supervisors, the Manager oversees the operation of all Township Departments, with the exception of the Police Department.  The coordination and oversight of the daily business of the Township, in association with the Department Heads, falls within the responsibilities of the Township Manager, who is also the Zoning Officer.

In addition, the Manager is responsible for the administration of policy decisions and directives that are made by the Board of Supervisors.

The Manager in collaboration with the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors sets the agenda for the Board Meetings.  The Board also appoints a solicitor, engineer, and planner to provide professional services to the township in areas such as zoning, land development, Bike and Hike engineering, litigation, and storm water management.

Doylestown Township Administration is composed of the following departments: Administration; Finance; Parks and Recreation; Building, Planning, & Zoning and Fire Marshal.  Each department works together to accomplish the goals and policies set forth by the Board of Supervisors.

Township Manager, Stephanie J. Mason

Stephanie Mason has been Doylestown Township’s manager since 2000, prior to that she served as the Township’s assistant manager for 12.5 years. She is immediate past president of the Association of Pennsylvania Municipal Management. She along with her colleagues received International City/County Management Association’s 2012 Program Excellence Award for Community Health and Safety for the Cross Keys Water Project. She was the recipient of the 2011 Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors President’s Leadership Award. In 2007 she was presented with the appreciation award by the Doylestown Community Bike/Hike Committee for her dedication and commitment to the vision of making the trail system a reality. She currently serves on the Delaware Valley Health Insurance Board and on the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Risk Management Committee and is past President of the Bucks County Consortium of Municipalities. Ms. Mason holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University and an MPA with a certificate in city management from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. Ms. Mason along with her husband Hal has two children.

Ms. Mason enjoys working with the Board of Supervisors as well as all of the volunteers on our Boards and Commissions and the Township Staff. She holds steadfast to the Township’s mission and goal of preserving the past and embracing the future, while protecting the health, safety and welfare of the Community. She welcomes hearing from residents.
