Recycling

Big Green Box Recycling:  If you would like to drop of your household batteries or cell phone batteries at the township for recycling, make sure you package them correctly.  We can only accept batteries that are all individually taped at both ends of the battery with masking or electrical tape.  If you don't want to tape them, your second option is to place each battery into a separate plastic bag (snack size zipper bag for example).  If you have a significant build up of batteries we suggest you take them to the county's household hazardous waste drop off dates, they do not require taping or bagging batteries.  If you have any questions, please contact us at 215-348-9915.

Leaf and Yard Waste Recycling Drop Off Site

The best thing for the environment is to let your leaves lay, but if you want to clean up your yard and garden in an environmentally friendly way bring your leaves and yard waste to the Township's 2009 Leaf and Yard Waste Composting Site.  Removing Yard and Leaf waste from the Solid Waste Stream is important!  This program is open to DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS ONLY.

Location: Delaware Valley College
Directions: Turn in Farm Lane off Lower State Road adjacent Farm Market, proceed to top of hill past building on left. Turn left across new Bike & Hike Path to a point of ending past the woodland on left. Directional signs will be appropriately placed day of event.

What can I bring?
You can bring any leaf and yard waste from your garden.  This includes small brush, leaves, sticks and limbs.  Please make sure your limbs are small enough that one man can carry them. If you bag your waste to transport it to the program, please be aware we will not be keeping the bags.  You can bring your leaves in any container, but we will no longer be shredding Bio degradable bags.

If you have questions about this new program please call 215-348-9915.

Doylestown Township offers Cardboard Recycling Drop off for residents!

Come and drop off your corrugated cardboard recycling here at 425 Wells Rd. Doylestown, PA 18901. The dumpster is located at the end of our parking lot area. Drop off times are from Dawn until Dusk 7 days per week. Please remember to breakdown your boxes before placing them in the container. This program is for township residents only.

Curbside Collection:
Your trash hauling service also includes the collection of recyclables.  Please ask your hauler if they provide receptacles (Doylestown Township does not) and if not, what types are acceptable.
The following recyclable materials are collected at curbside in Doylestown Township (commercial collection includes corrugated cardboard and office paper):
aluminum cans steel cans #1 plastic bottles #2 plastic bottles
clear glass brown glass green glass newspaper

Household Hazardous Waste Recycling:

2009 Southeastern Pennsylvania Household Hazardous Waste and Old Computer Collection Program

What can you bring?  As many as three old Computers and up to 25 gallons or 220 pounds of Hazardous Products. Read the label! Hazardous Products will have cautionary words on the label. For example: Danger, Warning, or Caution. Other words or phrases that can signal hazardous products include: poisonous, hazardous, combustible, flammable, corrosive, volatile, caustic, irritant, explosive, toxic, use with adequate ventilation, or avoid inhaling.  If there are no words indicating it is a hazardous product, it likely isn’t.

Why?   Household products containing toxic chemicals, like pesticides, oil-based paints, solvents, cleaning products, weed killers and automotive batteries can be a threat to people and the environment if improperly discarded. Never throw these materials into the trash, as the toxic chemicals may harm sanitation workers, or result in fires in collection vehicles. It is also not safe to pour them into a sink or storm drain as they can end up in the environment polluting the air, water, or soil.
