Doylestown Community Sounds of Summer 2009
Sounds of Summer 2009 is presented by the
Doylestown Community Performing Arts Council in cooperation with
Doylestown Township and Doylestown Borough and supported in part
by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
Performances begin at 7:00 p.m. (unless noted).
Concerts are free, open to the public and
handicap accessible: At the July 1st performance a
$5.00 per carload donation, in support of this series, will be
greatly appreciated. For the outdoor venues, blankets, chairs
and picnics are permitted. Central Park is located at 425 Wells
Rd.; Chapman Park, Rt. 202 and East Rd. In the event of
inclement weather, performances will be held at Central Bucks
West High School, 375 W. Court St. For information and/or

June 24: Atzilut - 7:00 p.m.
Chapman Park, Doylestown Borough
Atzilut Concerts for Peace features Arab
and Jewish musicians in concert together to make a
powerful statement for peace though their shared music
of both Hebrew and Arabic vocal specialists. For fifteen
years the ensemble has performed at a wide range of
venues, including the United Nations, the Algarve
International Festival, Munich Gasteig, the Royal Opera
Theatre of Copenhagen and a recent tour of France. No
speeches--the music is the message!

July 5th: Philly Horn Band - 7:30 p.m.
Fireworks follow the concert!
$5/car donation requested.
Central Park, Doylestown Township
The Philly Horn Band is a nine-piece
group including guitar, drums, keyboards, 2 saxophones,
trumpet, percussionist and six vocalists and boasting
one of the largest repertoires available. They're
prepared to entertain with everything from big band to
disco to current top 40 hits - reaching a broad range of
musical tastes. (For the July 1 concert and fireworks
there will be a volunteer ‘bucket’ donation per carload
in support of the Doylestown Community Performing Arts
Council. Rain date will be July 5.) Your
$5.00 per carload donation, in support of
this series, greatly appreciated. |

July 8: Sarah Ayers - 7:00 p.m.
Central Park, Doylestown Township
Sarah Ayers is an opera trained blues
singer whose accomplishments include winning a multitude
of Lehigh Valley Music Awards and a Pulse Music Award
for “Best Female Vocalist.” Ayers and her band deliver
blues, funk and jam styles combined with bold guitar
sounds and tight rhythm sections.

July 15: Red Grammer - 7:00 p.m.
Chapman Park, Doylestown Borough
Critically acclaimed and Grammy nominated
recording artist Red Grammer has set the gold standard
for writing and performing contemporary children’s
music. Red can be heard nourishing the hearts and souls
of both young and old via his multiple award-winning
recordings, his numerous appearances on television (The
Today Show, CBS This Morning, Nickelodeon, Showtime,
PBS, and The Disney Channel), and his new video/DVD.

July 22: 1910 Fruitgum Company - 7:00
p.m.
Central Park, Doylestown Township
The 1910 Fruitgum Company virtually
exploded onto the National charts in 1968 with
their first single release, "Simon Says." The song
quickly moved up the national charts to become a # 2
record. The
1910 Fruitgum Company followed this initial success with another
smash hit, "1-2-3 Red Light." Today, the group is back,
with original members, and going strong with a
new CD containing several of their original hits.

July 29: Country Joe - 7:00 p.m.
Central Park Doylestown Township
Country Joe is a five man country band
consisting of guitar, keyboards, pedal steel, bass and
drums and featuring strong lead vocals and excellent
harmonies. The band plays a wide variety of Top 40
Country, Traditional Country, Classic Rock, Oldies,
Gospel, Patriotic and their own hits. Country Joe and
the Honky Tonk Heroes have opened for such greats as:
Waylon Jennings, Lori Morgan, Bill Anderson, Sawyer
Brown and Mark Collie.

August 5: Woody Poles - 7:00 p.m.
Chapman Park Doylestown Borough
Woody Poles has been influenced by a wide
range of styles including classical, jazz, R&B, rock,
folk, soul, reggae, funk and gospel. Poles has been
performing for over 21 years and written more than a 150
songs. His music has the feel of the 70’s and is
reminiscent of favorites such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie
Wonder and
EWF to Herbie Mann, and even a bit of
Marley. |

August 12: Bella Sorella - 7:00 p.m.
Central Park Doylestown Township
With music spanning over 300 years and
seven languages, Bella Sorella's sound appeals to all
music fans. Bella
Sorella – Nova and Susanna Jiménez (sopranos) and
Shinobu Kameyama (piano) – is an award-winning soprano
ensemble that combines classical and contemporary styles
in melodic and powerful duets. Bella Sorella’s unique
music, magnetic stage presence and remarkable personal
story has earned them acclaim and recognition throughout
California and abroad. |

Bring a blanket and/or chairs (not provided at
venue).
· Alcohol
is prohibited at all venues. Food & beverage is prohibited at
C.B. West High School (indoor venue).
· In
the event of inclement weather the performances will be held at
C.B. West High School. Call the Township or Borough after 3:00
pm to confirm location.
Refreshments
will be available for purchase.

Follow Route 611 North/Easton to 202 North/New Hope. Take 202
North to the "Y" in the road. Turn left at the "Y"; this puts
you on State Street. At the first intersection, turn left (East
Road). Chapman Park will be on your immediate right.
Public parking is available in
the business complex ("The Farm") across the street. Parking
for persons with disabilities is available in Chapman Park.
